Complementary Therapies, as the name suggests, are treatments or therapies that may complement conventional medical treatment. At Dorothy House we offer Complementary Therapy for patients, carers and bereaved clients.
They are only available to patients’ carers or bereaved clients’ known to Dorothy House. If you are interested in having Complementary Therapy treatment please discuss with your Dorothy House health care professional.
Currently all sessions are given here at Dorothy House either in one of our treatment rooms, in the patients own bedroom on the In-Patient Unit or within the Day Patient Unit setting. We hope to expand our services into the outreach centres in the future.
We offer the following therapies:
In the interests of safety all recipients of Complementary Therapy will be expected to complete a health questionnaire. A standard letter is sent to each patient’s GP informing them that they have been referred for Complementary Therapy.
Up to six sessions are offered, usually spaced weekly or fortnightly as our resources allow. This service is free of charge, as are all our other services, although donations are gratefully received. If recipients’ choose to enter into a private arrangement with a therapist, this will be outside the parameters of Dorothy House services.
In special circumstances we can offer volunteer transport if requested.
