COPE Rehabilitation

Our groups for palliative rehabilitation are led by the Dorothy House physiotherapy team. A 6 week programme has been designed to help you and your patient live life to the full. It consists of an initial assessment of needs followed by a course at one of our outreach centres (Midsomer Norton or Chippenham) or occasionally at DH Winsley. 

The course covers, amongst other things, the following subjects:

• Energy Conservation

• Sleep

• Diet

• Complementary Therapies

• Dietary advice

• Managing Breathlessness

Each week exercise and relaxation form a part of the activities and a light lunch is provided afterwards when you can get to know other carers and their patients.

The course is designed to help both you and your patient together at what can be a most stressful part of your lives together.

To attend one of these courses your patient will need to

• be referred to Dorothy House

• be reasonably independent

• be committed (within reason) to the 6 week course and

• be able to travel (transport with one of our volunteer drivers may be available upon prior arrangement)
