Fifteen-year-old Georgia May Bradney wrote the song – I Know – as part of her GCSE music coursework, and dedicated it to Harriet Hiscox, whose father, Colin ‘Coose’ Hiscox, died at Dorothy House in April. Georgia May has known Harriet since she was born – Harriet’s mum Nicki is her godmother, and Georgia was bridesmaid at Nicki and Coose’s wedding – and wanted to do something to show her sympathy and support for her friend.
Georgia recorded her song and shared it on Facebook with the Hiscox’ friends in Shepton Mallet and her own friends and family in the West Midlands. The response was so enthusiastic that she has now made a professional recording of I Know, which is available to buy on iTunes, with all profits coming to Dorothy House.
As she says in the song:
“I know, know that you try, to think of what’s right
And I know, know that you try, to keep him alive
But he’s gone, and it’s wrong
But he’s watching over you
And I know, know that you try, to remember his life …”

So long, since I’ve seen you
You’re so strong, with what you’ve been through
Keep holding on, don’t let it get you
The pains so wrong, but I understand...
I know, know that you try, to think of what’s right
And I know, know that you try, to keep him alive
But he’s gone, and it’s wrong
But he’s watching over you
And I know, know that you try, to remember his life
Time goes by, got to break through
Please don’t cry, ‘cos we all love you
Keep thinking why, it’s all I can do
Can’t say bye, as I understand...
I know, know that you try, to think of what’s right
And I know, know that you try, to keep him alive
But he’s gone, and it’s wrong
But he’s watching over you
And I know, know that you try, to remember his life
I Know... I Know
The man in the moon, with our silver heart
He tells of a story, you’re always apart
He says you’re his princess, with big blue eyes
You know I will help you, through all these times
And...
I know, know that you try, to think of what’s right
And I know, know that you try, to keep him alive
But he’s gone, and it’s wrong
But he’s watching over you
And I know, know that you try, to remember his life
I know...
