The Trowbridge and Melksham Friends of Dorothy House presented chief executive Sarah Whitfield with a cheque for £12,000 when she attended the group’s annual Carol Supper on 14 December. This magnificent donation was the result of a number of fundraising events held in 2011, including a golf tournament, Ascot Ladies’ Day and a fashion show. Roger Catte, of Moles Brewery, also presented a cheque, for £1,350 – the proceeds of a golf day held at Cumberwell Golf Club earlier in the year. Sarah said: “What a fantastic Christmas gift – we are so grateful to the Friends, and to Moles, for their wonderful support!”
ELSEWHERE, long-time supporter Jean Owens raised £590 for Dorothy House by selling gifts and preserves at Bath Christmas market on 7 December. Jean, who ran the stall with husband Chris and friend Lorna Gray, said: “The Christmas market is such a popular event, so being able to have a stall was a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for the hospice. Many thanks to Bath Tourism Plus for letting us have the stall free of charge.”
